Resumen
Las moléculas de señalización de gases (GSM), compuestas de oxígeno, monóxido de carbono, óxido nítrico, sulfuro de hidrógeno, etc., desempeñan un papel fundamental en la regulación de la transducción de señales y la homeostasis celular. Curiosamente, a través de varias administraciones, estas moléculas también exhiben potencial en el tratamiento del cáncer.
Recientemente, el Hidrógeno Gas (fórmula: H2) surge como otro GSM que posee múltiples bioactividades, que incluyen especies antiinflamatorias, antirreactivas del oxígeno y anticancerígenas.
La creciente evidencia ha demostrado que el Hidrógeno Gas puede aliviar los efectos secundarios causados por los quimioterapéuticos convencionales o suprimir el crecimiento de células cancerosas y tumores de xenoinjerto, lo que sugiere su amplia y potente aplicación en la terapia clínica
. En la revisión actual, resumimos estos estudios y discutimos los mecanismos subyacentes. La aplicación de Hidrógeno Gas en el tratamiento del cáncer aún se encuentra en su etapa inicial, se justifican más estudios mecánicos y el desarrollo de instrumentos portátiles.
